We are the Northwest Florida Prescribed Burn Association, Inc., a Florida non-profit charitable organization. Long name but, in short, think of us as a burn club whose members like to manage forest land using prescribed fire.  We voluntarily get together to help each other run prescribed burns on our lands.  As a club, we help each other burn. As an association, we find or create training opportunities for members.  We depend on donations and grants to acquire, operate, and maintain the club’s equipment, as well as pay the club’s other operating expenses.

Who can join in the fun?

Anyone who wants to help burn private lands in Northwest Florida can join. Most members own forestland but land ownership is not required to join.  And, you don’t need to be experienced with prescribed fire. You will enjoy a role with us no matter what your abilities are. You can staff events, come to burn days, take weather measurements, deliver water and snacks, help write a burn prescription, and walk a drip torch through your land.

We offer two types membership: Regular or Honorary.

Regular

Regular members pay an initiation fee and are voting members. Regular members typically have land to burn but anyone can join as a Regular Member. Regular memberships are family-style, meaning that your whole family is included (but the family has only one vote in our membership votes.)  Presently, annual dues are waived.  No dues. Click here to download our Regular Member Application.

Honorary

Honorary membership is typically for our industry professionals who partner with us in various ways, offering their time and talent to accomplish our purpose. Honorary members include state agency employees, private burn contractors, and employees of non-government organizations. Honorary members don’t vote on Association business, and join without any fee. No dues. Click here to download our Honorary Member Application.
